Founded in 1973, under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act of 1971, Huna Totem Corporation represents more than 1,650 Alaska Native shareholders with Indigenous ties to the community of Hoonah and Glacier Bay. Among its guiding principles, Huna Totem works to provide economic opportunity for its people, perpetuate the Huna Tlingit culture, and maintain its land in perpetuity. After 20 years in the tourism industry, Huna Totem is broadening its mission to help Indigenous communities in Alaska and beyond to develop tourism destinations that deliver authentic experiences to travelers and economic empowerment and cultural pride to the community’s people.
