Nick Economos, Sr. was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1950 and spent his early years in Greece and Canada. In 1969 he moved to Norfolk, VA from Vancouver and founded Economos Properties. He purchased his first property at the age of 19, which was a 23 unit apartment complex. Over the next thirteen years he acquired ten additional motels and developed the E&W restaurant chain. In the 1980s Mr. Economos developed two Omni hotels in Virginia Beach and Newport News. In the early 1990s Mr. Economos developed a 210 unit housing development in Newport News and two Howard Johnson Inn hotels totaling 215 rooms in Virginia Beach. Mr. Economos was involved in numerous community and professional organizations throughout his twenty-three year residence in Virginia. In 1992 Mr. Economos moved his family and corporate office to Boca Raton, FL where he resides today. Since moving to Florida, Mr. Economos has developed a number of hotels, most notably a 79 room Hampton Inn & Suites located in Islamorada and a 263 room Courtyard by Marriott in Miami Beach. In addition, he has developed a number of Marriott and Hilton hotels totaling over 900 rooms near the Ft. Lauderdale and Miami airports. In 2002 Dan Economos and Nick Economos, Jr. joined the company and were instrumental in the development of hotels located in Miami Beach and near the Ft. Lauderdale airport. Over the next seventeen years, Dan and Nick continued to successfully develop hotels in South Florida. As second generation hoteliers, Dan and Nick currently lead the growth of Economos Properties as it continues to expand in Florida and most recently Nevada. |
